Apparently, this is a real holiday created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor the women who served WWII soldiers donuts.
From Wikipedia:
"Chris Parry from the Vancouver Sun noted in a satirical column that some Canadians are jealous of the U.S. holiday."
As they should be!!
Go take advantage of this by getting a free donut at your local Krispy Kreme, which Charlottesville unfortunately no longer has, or by getting a free donut at Dunkin Donuts with any drink purchase!
